4/8/2023 0 Comments Xkeys osculator![]() ![]() I have two 27" monitors, one as a primary and the other angled and off to the side to use as needed. But again, that's just what works for me. I find myself moving my head small amounts rather than moving my eyes because the screen is so big. I have used a 32" TV as a monitor before and honestly, it's a little too big for me (sitting roughly 2' away). I wish I still had the article I read that in, it did a much better job of explaining it than I did. It may be nice for gaming and movies but it seems like it isn't the best fit for precision/dimensionally accurate work. I read that the curve distorts things enough that it would be detrimental for working in CAD. When I was looking at a new monitor I was also thinking about a curved monitor, but decided against it. But, of course we all find different things useful. I would be lost without mine and would work so much slower. I have it set up for every program I use and even have a few buttons set with custom macros. That's interesting, I love my SpaceMouse Pro (& CAD mouse). I can relate to customizing everything, I sometimes struggle to work on other machines that don't have my custom setups. Anything that stream lines workflows is of interest to me, such as the 3d model library in KS has been the filler app function of the past year, its has enhanced my workflow 2-3x. Thoughts? I'm also looking to switch from dual mismatched 24 and 27" monitors to a single larger one, probably a 32" 4k monitor, and I'm seeing differing opinions regarding curved or not. I really like the idea that the panel of the Stream Deck will change depending on what app im in, the icons are customizable, and now that I'm not on a MAC anymore for work, all the macro and key customization apps out there will work for me. It wasn't any better than the regular mouse and keyboard controls, so it literally sits on my desk as a reminder of products that don't really solve any problems. ![]() Then I found out about streamdeck units, with the little LCD panel buttons, and that seems like the perfect thing! I can get caught up int he gimmiky stuff though, so I'm asking has anyone else used one of these things? I bought a 3d Connexion 3d spacemouse when I started working in Cinema 4D, but I ended up hating it. I've seen Xkeys around for years, and seems pretty solid, but the programming is pretty funky from what I hear, and can be kludgy to set up, and update. That being said, I am looking for something to expand beyond the regular Function keys that I can program Photoshop, Illustrator, AE and of course Keyshot. It was actually a nice thing for my last job where my boss had the habit of going and jumping on anyones computer to do stuff, but he would leave mine alone because nearly nothing was default. Not a huge deal, as I don't do that very often at all. ![]() It gets to the point where I struggle using other computers without my presets. I'm a sucker for keyboard shortcuts, and I pretty much customize all of them to the extent that I can. ![]()
